A sophisticated event with tablets for a live auction

FAQs

If we haven't answered your questions here, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

General

Can jumblebee run an auction at my live event?

Yes of course, we have two main options for this:

If you choose our beePro service, our fantastic team can attend your event with our Apple iPad bidding tablets connected to our dedicated auction Wi-Fi. Guests can register, view, and bid for items without having to leave their tables, and watch their bids flash up on the leaderboards.

If you would like to run your event totally online yourself (in venues with good Wi-Fi or phone signal), you can choose our beeFree service. When you include 10 or more exciting buzz items in your auction, this service is free of charge, and we will provide you with QR codes to use at your live event so that bidders can easily access the auction on their phones.

If you are interested in running a silent auction alongside a live event, please contact the team at support@jumblebee.co.uk for further details.

What is the fee for ticket shop sales?

2.5% +VAT of the total ticket sales

How much does an online auction cost?

The fee for an online auction is 5% +VAT of the total winning bids.

How are payments managed?

There are three different ways to manage payments from buyers or winning bidders:

The first option is that jumblebee collects payment for you. This means that at the conclusion of your auction, all your winners will receive an email that includes a payment link, and they can pay through our payment provider Stripe. The card fees are 2.4% + 20p per transaction, and all auction winners are given the option to donate this fee back to your cause. Funds are held in an FCA regulated client account and transferred across to your nominated bank account when all payments have been collected.

The second option would be to collect payment yourself, directly, via Bank Transfer or otherwise. The winners at the end of your auction will still receive a winner’s email, which can be edited to include the details where they can send their money and a request for a specific reference on the payment, to help you keep track so that you know which prizes can be released.

The third option is to collect via PayPal. Simply enter the email associated with the PayPal account you wish to collect the money in, and, at the conclusion of your auction, your winning bidder email will include a PayPal payment link. PayPal also has associated transaction costs, which can be found online.

Money

How can I keep track of who has paid after my auction finishes?

If you are collecting payments through jumblebee, you will be able to see a record of payments made under ‘Account Settings’ and ‘My Auction Items’. The owner of the auction page will also receive email notifications as items are paid for.

Tip: If you have opted for a Direct Payment then the text that the winner/s receive won’t include a link; you will need to edit the email to include payment instructions.

What if someone cannot pay for an item?

It is rare, but in this case, you can offer the item to the underbidder. To see who that is, go to ‘Account Settings’ and select ‘My Auction Items’. You will see a list of all your items, scroll to the item in question and "Bid history" on the right-hand side.

All the names and email addresses of people who have placed a bid will be displayed. Contact the next bidder down, if they agree to take the item, you can delete the non-payer's bid, go back to ‘My Auction Items’ and select ‘Resend Winners Email’ on the right-hand side.

Does jumblebee have a function that makes it easier for me to chase payments?

We do! If jumblebee is collecting payment, we have an automatic chasing system that sends out reminders for any unpaid auction items once a day for a total of 3 days after the initial winning bidder email has been sent out. Reminders are sent out via text and email. This function can be disabled if preferred.

How much does it cost if jumblebee collects payments through Stripe?

2.4% plus 20p per transaction for UK cards or 3% plus 20p for AMEX or for cards based outside of the EEA. We give all auction winners the option to donate this fee to reduce card transaction costs for the beneficiary.
